Do Something...

How to start doing something...

  1. Check on your friends: Have the conversations. Just like we all checked-in with each other through covid, let’s ask each other how we’re doing through this. It needs to be bothering all of us.

  2. Sign the petitions + donate to fundraisers for the victims we’ve learned about in May

    • Breonna Taylor, a Louisville EMT murdered by police in her own home.

    • Ahmaud Barbery, a young Georgia man murdered while jogging.

    • George Floyd, a man incorrectly identified as “involved in a forgery case”, murdered by three Minneapolis policemen pinning him down with their knees.

      • GoFundMe for his family

      • The Minnesota Freedom Fund, a grassroots organization currently working with the National Lawyers Guild and the Legal Rights Center, will use donations to bail out arrested protestors and to supply those on the field.

      • Black Visions Collective, one of the groups in MN doing the groundwork.

    • Sean Monterrosa, a local activist murdered by Vallejo policemen while on his knees.

  3. Find an org committed to this work long-term: Sign up for the newsletters + donate when you can. Keep your inbox full of opportunities to read about the work being done, and always be looking for ways to participate and donate to these efforts.

4. Educate yourself about the longtime oppression of people of color in the U.S. Especially that of Black people in the U.S. You may assume you know, but look again..look deeper. Bring up this conversation with all of your friends and family. See here for a good start.

5. Vote with your dollar and buy from POC-owned businesses + support efforts for the economic empowerment of people of color.
